Chakra Balancing

The Chakra System

The chakras mediate all energy within, coming into and going out of the body. They play a major part in the distribution of energy for the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of our being.

“The soul as consciousness pervades and holds its bodies of manifestation (our physical, etheric, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies) together as a cohesive, functional unit through certain focal points. In Indian tradition these centres of force are called chakras; the word in Sanskrit means ‘wheel”.

(D.V. Tansley in “Subtle body”, 1977)

The chakras are interconnected through a network of energy channels. The yogic tradition identifies three major channels (nadis) called Sushumna, Ida and Pingala. They interweave and are normally depicted as a sort of ‘spinal column’ analogous to the central nervous system. Their crossing points are the sites of the seven main chakras. The sites of the seven main chakras correspond to the sites of the main glands forming the endocrine system which produces the hormones in the body.

Chakras are energy centers. Although most people have heard of seven chakras, there are actually 114 in the body. The human body is a complex energy form; in addition to the 114 chakras, it also has 72,000 "nadis," or energy channels, along which vital energy, or "prana," moves. When the nadis meet at different points in the body, they form a triangle. We call this triangle a chakra, which means "wheel." We call it a wheel because it symbolizes growth, dynamism and movement, so even though it is actually a triangle, we call it a chakra. Some of these centers are very powerful, while others are not as powerful. At different levels, these energy centres produce different qualities in a human being.

When we have been working with chakra 1 – 7 for some time, we can then begin to access the vibration of the five higher chakras as the crown chakra acts as the gateway to the five higher levels of your energy anatomy (chakra 8 – 12). Each chakra vibrates at a different frequency, and transmits energy when opened and balanced. When any of the chakras are closed or blocked, disease can occur as the energy which is needed to sustain the physical body’s well-being is restricted. In order to correct this problem, the seven chakras must be opened and re-balanced, thereby clearing any clogged or blocked chakras and allowing energy to flow freely into the physical body.

An abundance of further energy channels or nadis pervade our bodies, resembling the meridians in traditional Chinese medicine. The nadis form an intricate web of subtle energy streams. Certain texts speak of 350,000 nadis and 88,000 chakras through which the life force (Reiki, Ki, Chi, prana) flows.

The word Chakra is a Sanksrit word meaning “wheel” or “circle”, and it refers to the individual circular spinning wheels of energy located throughout the body.

The Chakra System is a complex network of energy channels connecting these wheels and is mapped throughout the whole body, much like a spiritual nervous system.

These chakras bring in and emit energy which flows in our day to day lives. Each chakra has a role in balancing some aspect of our life physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually. In time of struggle or change the energy can stop flowing freely and cause the charka(s) to become blocked or imbalanced. These blockages can manifest in many ways. Many things can affect our chakras from our physical environment to our emotions to our mental dialogue.

When these energy centers are healthy and open, so are we - physically, emotionally, mentally and in our relationships with ourselves and others.

When they are blocked through injury, illness, or disconnection from others, we are blocked from being our best selves and can feel frustrated, stuck and lack of vitality. Throughout childhood and through our life experiences, we often create constrictions in our chakras. For instance, if we received criticism for our singing repeatedly, we might close down our fifth chakra (throat center), limiting our creative expression or ability to speak up for ourselves. Traumas, fears and ‘negative’ experiences can lead to long-term imbalances in your energy system that then manifest into challenges like insecurity, anger, stress or disease.

It’s essential for good health and overall wellbeing, to be aware of how balanced or unbalanced our chakras are.

There is a voice that doesn’t use words - Listen
— Rumi

How do I know if my chakras are balanced?

Our bodies are in constant fluidity between balance and imbalance. Balance is not static, it is constantly moving. Awareness is the starting point as once you bring awareness to your mind/body, you can start to learn its signals and clues. You begin to listen to your body on all levels as your guide.

When we are feeling good, relaxed and happy in the world then our enery is flowing, we feel like we are in the flow. However if we’re feeling depressed, anxious, stressed, etc then our energy will be depleted and our level of vitality may be affected also. Over time this will affect a person’s well being.

We live in a world where the pace appears to be getting faster almost to the point where we are on the go twenty four seven, or feel that we should be. As we push ourselves forward in our lives, many of us are losing the balance and harmony.

Instead of choosing to enjoy each day and being grateful for what we have, we worry about the past and the future and let the present pass us by. All this worry and stress in our daily lives affects our energy centres and they become blocked i.e. the energy does not flow freely through the chakras.

A ‘block’ is a place where energy is trapped or constricted. In dealing with a block, you need to get the energy moving . When energy flows through the whole body it creates harmony and releases imbalances.

No chakra works independently of the other chakras, they are all part of the whole energy system. Each chakra only works fully when the other chakras are also fully engaged. They are all part of a whole.

When we are in alignment with our true nature, when we are living harmoniously with all of the aspects of ourselves, and when we can remove and release blockages, we can become more attuned to our true self. By balancing the Aura, opening the chakras, and releasing old debris that no longer serves us for our highest good, we can move forward in our lives with grace and ease. We can shed unwanted behaviours, thought patterns, and emotions.

Chakra Balancing and Alignment Offering

Create a space within yourself to just be you. I help release embedded and stagnant energy to make room for flow.

Chakra balancing is a form of energy healing that focuses on channelling energy into the seven chakras.

The aim of a Chakra Balancing session is to release any chakra blockages and promote a free flow of energy to restore balance and a sense of wellbeing.

During this initial period of conscious discussion and evaluation we clarify the various problems or issues to be addressed. We shall sit and connect over tea and I will gently guide you in a process of inner inquiry which will uncover any particular problems or issues to be dealt with in the session. You will be invited to be fully present to the process, feel the charge in the body and allow the emotions and sensations relating to the issue to come up and fully feel them to make space for new energy to flow and for you to blossom.

At the beginning of a session your energy field (aura) is cleansed. Using my intuitive abilities I then connect with you energetically and read your energy field by passing a hand gently above the surface of your body, noting any sensations or imbalances.

A session begins with gentle relaxation techniques to calm the mind and body (for example guided breath-work, meditation and smudging).

During a session we aim to identify any possible blockages, which may be linked to but are not limited to emotional blockages, trauma, general imbalances in your wellbeing or challenges with relationships/work/finances.

During a session I will work with you to activate your energy centers by placing attention and intention on the location of each chakra through a combination of reiki, sound, crystals, guided visualisations, affirmations, colour, essential oils and energetic techniques to increase the flow of energy.

Each session is completed with grounding and bringing into consciousness the newly awakened life force.

Deep energetic protection is given at the end of the session, followed by healing recommendations for those chakras that most need conscious care from you.

The experience is deeply meditative and brings the body’s seven main chakras into alignment. Chakra balancing leads to deep purification, transformation, and rejuvenation.

The experience during a Chakra Balancing and Alignment Offering will vary with some experiencing an emotional release during or after the session.

Our thoughts and feelings are powerful forces and energetic realities. They are the substance of which our experience of the world is made of. They influence our envi- ronments, our energy fields and they influence the physical tissue within our bodies. In this way, your biography - that is, the experiences that make up your life - becomes your biology.
